PHOTOhype.com was launched on the 1st of February, 2000 from  my bedroom office
in Hermosa Beach, California.  Originally aimed at showcasing my [ Geo's biography page ]
photographic adventures inside The Surf City Hostel, I decided to open PHOTOhypes' doors to my
photography, travelling, backpacking & hostelling friends.  Since then, this web site has turned
into what Alice Keating of Austria once called: "A complex world of art & emotions".

On the 15th of June 2000, our first PHOTOstory about hostel life at [ The LVBP ] was
published during a weekend trip to Arizona.  It was christened: The Viva, Lost Wages Project.
Two successful years later, I left The LVBP and the infamous Las Vegas nightlife.

Next, I landed in San Diego to produce a PHOTOstory about [ The OBI hostel ] before releasing
a backpacker size sample of [ The Hermosa Beach Project ] - the inspiration that started it all.  In 2003,
I released our heavy hitting Destination: Europe PHOTOstory, followed by [ The Point of Travelling ]
photography exhibition.  2006 was a fantastic year with the [ HostelBookers.com ] partnership
& the mega launch of PHOTOhype BOOKS: [ Photographs of an Unwritten Future ].  In 2007,
we teamed up with the [ Outrageous Bus ] and handed out 18,000 postcards, while 2009 gave birth
to [ PHOTOhype FILMS ] with the completion of our first full length feature screenplay.
The year 2010 marked a new beginning for the project, when the [ Museum of World Culture ]
incorporated a selection of PHOTOhype  images into their "Destination X" exhibition.

PHOTOhype.com has come a long way, since a flirtatious & playful beginning at The LVBP
in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada.  Definitely, this project is different & different is definitely a good
thing.  Many thanks to Ludo Verstraete (Belgium), who picked me up when I fell & carried me on his
shoulders, while introducing me to the beauty, that is, Europe.  A special thanks to John Asher (USA),
who got me started by showing me the light & by telling me that PHOTOhype was more than just
a hobby.  And, of course, a super phat thanks to all [ the backpackers, hostel travellers
& photographers
] who helped make this photography project a huge success.
